Kenneth Yurkovitch is a current working photographer. He is formally trained in digital, film and documentary photography. He continues to further his practice to include commercial and digital photography, alternative processes, archiving and book making. Based in New York, Kenneth has focused his lens on people in their everyday lives both metaphorically and documentary.
Kenneth Yurkovitch’s photographs are an expression of his interest in the behavior and rhythm of the streets of New York – its people, culture and light. His photographs are designed to share with the viewer the images unexpected. Uncanny moments that portray the balancing of light, rhythm and human behavior.
His first formal photography classes were studying with Jules Allen, a well-known New York street and portrait photographer. Mr. Yurkovitch holds a BFA from Queens College and an MFA in Photography and Fine Arts from The International Center of Photography in New York City.
Mr. Yurkovitch has taught numerous classes and workshops in New York City. He was on staff teaching at Queensborugh College for over ten years. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor teaching photography at LaGuardia Community College.
Kenneth is currently publishing and exhibiting while continuing to work as a professional photographer with his own projects and assisting other well-known photographers primarily developing book projects.
Early influences in photography for Mr. Yurkovitch were Josef Koudelka, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, W. Eugene Smith, Mary Ellen Mark, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Donna Ferrato.
